Driver Spotlight: Rick

Rick has provided over 10,000 rides using Empower in the DC market since he first signed up in April 2021. Rick enjoys using Empower because he is 100% in control. What does your daily routine look like as a driver?

I start out by putting my 3 kids on the bus around 8 AM. After that, I get gas and a coffee, turn on the Empower app and start driving towards downtown DC. Once I get a rider I stay busy for the most part.

 

What are some things that you wish other drivers and community members knew about Empower?

There are other options besides Uber and Lyft! Empower is good because it supports drivers. With Empower, 100% of the fare goes to the driver unlike Uber and Lyft who take 40% from drivers. Drivers who use Empower are 100% in control. 

 

What suggestions do you have for other drivers who want to make more money?

You need to know your area. Where there are people, there is work to be done and money to be made. It doesn’t just depend on GPS. Time is money. The more efficient you are with your time, the more money you can make.

 

Do you support a family? If so, how does using Empower benefit them?

Yes, I have a family. With Empower, I can make my schedule, my bills get paid, and I can put food on the table. I am in control. 

 

What do you think riders like most about Empower?

My customers always tell me they like that the driver gets the entire fare and that fares are typically less than Uber and Lyft. 

 

What is the most enjoyable conversation that you’ve ever had with a rider?

The most enjoyable conversation that I ever had was with a customer going to the airport talking about life and where the future is taking the world because the world is different now.
