About the Role:
Empower is hiring a General Manager for its NYC operations. This is a unique opportunity to build a team and design the operations for a new market from the ground up. The General Manager will be responsible for rider acquisition, revenue growth, and marketplace health, serving primarily riders on the Empower platform. Specific responsibilities include:
- Own and drive results against key operating metrics for Empower in the NYC market
- Develop a comprehensive plan for rider acquisition and relationship management
- Hire, train, and manage a team of Community Managers
- Develop and refine a marketing strategy to build Empower’s name recognition and grow ridership on the Empower platform in the NYC market
- Monitor the NYC marketplace to ensure marketplace health and growth
- Identify and develop strategies to improve efficiency in rider signups and onboarding
- Use data-driven decision-making and sound business judgment to drive continuous process

- Work with other operations leaders to develop a company-wide strategy and operations playbook

What Do You Bring?
- Experience with launching and growing new markets preferred
- Experience with other gig economy and/or marketplace companies preferred
- Experience managing operations in a geographic market preferred
- Experience creating and managing social media content preferred
- Work experience as a political or campaign staffer or organizer can be helpful
- Experience managing a sales team preferred; direct sales experience can be helpful
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA would be valuable to the role, but not required
- 5+ years of professional and relevant work experience
- Must be available and willing to work full-time and in-person in NYC
