Empower is seeking a software engineer with 3-6 years of relevant experience to join our growing team.
Preference for candidates that live in the DC metro area; however strong remote candidates will be considered. Candidates must have a Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, an exceptional work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a desire to be part of a team disrupting the status quo.

What technologies you will be using as a Software Engineer II
- C#, ASP.NET Core 8, Azure, CosmosDB, SQL, Redis
- Less than 10% – Vue.js, Javascript
What you will do as a Software Engineer II
- 75% – Design, develop, and maintain new features in close collaboration with the Director of Engineering and other engineers
- 25% – Create reports, analyze data, and suggest improvements for business and technical needs
- Participate in the daily standup
- Complete tasks under tight deadlines
- Help improve the platform in performance, reliability, and maintainability
- In rare occasions, help handle emergency situations during off-hours
Required
- Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science
- 3-6 years of relevant professional experience
- Proficiency a programming language such as C#, Java, Javascript, Python, etc…
Preferred
- Proficiency with a SQL or NoSQL database
- Experience building and consuming REST or RESTful APIs
- Experience with Azure, AWS or GCP
- Experience developing geolocation based applications and services
- Experience with Azure AD / Entra ID
- Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript
- Experience with Vue 2 / 3
- Experience with Microsoft Orleans
- Experience with Kubernetes
- Experience with distributed and structured logging
- Experience at a rideshare or on-demand delivery service or building two-sided online marketplace apps
- Track record developing features for highly scalable, secure, production-grade backend services
